Ah gz. I opened up my email to see a raft of messages entitled "Al Barsa" and I was afraid to open them. I put it off for as long as possible, but there it is. I knew Al primarily through these lists and a few brief encounters, but I do know this: he's one of those people whose voice in the community was unique and inimitable.

We've lost a friend, IBM a conscience and the community a champion.
