Remember that your IFS can only carry viruses for other platforms.
There is no known instance of any IFS file ever executing code on
i5/OS. Won't happen.
So that begs the question: if you use your IFS as a (very expensive)
file sharing system between Windows machines, then you should consider
anti-virus. If on the other hand you use it only to communicate between
your System i and other machines in your network, then perhaps you
really don't need anti-virus on the System i.
