Simplest solution is probably a one line CL program that invokes SNDPGMMSG
command. You'd then call that CL program using QCMDEXC.

Other than that, you can look into QMHSNDPM API.

I am working on some changes to a Windows program that will interface with
our iSeries systems. I am using the stored procedure QCMDEXC to issue
various iSeries commands and then retrieving the output to work with it.

I need to be able to "post" a message to the job log for the QZDASOINIT
session that the Windows app maintains (ODBC) with the iSeries. I tried
using SNDPGMMSG but the command is rejected with "SNDPGMMSG not allowed in
this setting".

I do know that calling a COBOL program to execute a DISPLAY UPON SYSOUT
works because I've tried that with an existing program and the message was
indeed posted to the job log for the session. I could write a custom COBOL
utility to do this but wanted to find out if it is possible with a CL
command or call to an API.

Any ideas? TIA
