Use WRKUSRJOB * *ACTIVE and review for a job with status=DSC or status=SYSRQS. A disconnected job or an alternate session may have the interactive SQL session that is of interest.

The sessions are stored in QRECOVERY, and that library name as keyword plus STRSQL, should find a fair about of discussion about the stored interactive SQL sessions. However I suspect that the issue described, will be resolved by finding the existing session using STRSQL -- after the session is released by another job with that user profile. If the STRSQL is not finding it due to anything other than its being active in another job, then there is little chance the session details exist; IIRC, if there were errors activating an existing session [i.e. a session that was being reactivated], that session will be destroyed.
