But regardless of how good that might be it has a dependency on software I have no BUSINESS REASON to require. I use Eclipse (proper), Netbeans, and Xcode as required on my Mac but I'm not about to invest in Wintel anything just to code RPG/C/COBOL on my platform of choice.

Besides I'm not convinced that learning tools built on string and sticky tape is a good use of my time. So Eclipse Monkey is "a little rough around the edges"? I'll wait until it's production quality. By then it will probably have been replaced/superseded by yet another open-source tool.
