I not only use PDM as an /operations tool/ but for customer support. I always hated signing on to any customer system where PDM was not available. Of course the most important thing for that, was being absolutely *sure* I reviewed and/or replaced the options file to avoid accidentally invoking something horribly wrong [e.g. AJ for me is WRKACTJOB, but it could mean anything in someone else's options file]. Sadly I did something like that recently, but the options on the customer system were for some reason not alphabetic; Eeeek! I did not look into that. I think that some people in IBM support are going to really hate their jobs if they notice the WRKxxxPDM features become even more scarce on systems.

Seems like a good opportunity for a tool vendor or an open source project. Maybe then there could be a /position-to/ in the options and something enabling options to be active specific to the level of LIB vs OBJ vs MBR. And perhaps actual commands with CMD() parameters that implement ADD & CHG for the user defined options; maybe there was some design limitation that I am not aware of, for which UIM panels versus command panels were preferred.?
