The autoincremented would still come back to haunt you. Like this sample
request:
We deleted this person 5 years ago. Now they are back. The autoincrement
assigned a new employee number. I would like to give them their old
number.
Now, a quick perusal of our employee numbers show people I know who've
been gone for a decade or more. But I do see an occasional gap in the
employee numbers.
