RE: opinions/experiences w/SCSI 3490E on System i

I was under the impression that the 3490E F11 was going to be dropped
from maintenance. We have one and it works well (keeping Rob's advice
in mind). However, I was planning on replacing it with a 3490 E01 (or
something similar) due to the maintenance concern. I might be all wet
but you might want to check. Size wise the F11 is much more preferred.

I would like to hear opinions (good/bad/indifferent) from any of you

had or currently use a SCSI 3490E tape connected to your System i. I

also like to know the brand and model you are using and its approximate
cost.

We have an IBM 3490E F11 currently connected to our mainframe and are
planning to move it to the System i but I would like to hear some
feedback
to get a feel for what we can expect. TIA!
