I did see the DDL source on a DSPFD which I thought was a nice feature. It is a backup if source gets deleted and the objects does not but is not worth much if the object is deleted and there is no source to back it up.

FWIW, there is also an IBM API that will materialize the DDL from the view
(or PF, or LF), in case you have lost the DDL source:
