Paul,
If you don't have a commercial product that does column headings, use
this 2-step process to add Column Headings to a .CSV flat file for
Microsoft Excel.

Table F55001B has one record with column header values (shown here).

....+....1....+....2....+....3....+....4....+....5....+....6....+....7..
..+....8..
Column A Column B Column C
Column D

-------------------- -------------------- --------------------
----------------
Order Number Order Date Customer Number
Customer Name

STEP 1.
/* Column Headings going to the worksheet
*/
CPYTOIMPF FROMFILE(F55001B) +

TOSTMF('/QNTC/SCHROEDER/LIBRARY/rmaC/RMA.CSV') +
MBROPT(*REPLACE) STMFCODPAG(*PCASCII ) RCDDLM(*CRLF)

STEP 2.
CPYTOIMPF FROMFILE(F55001D ) +
TOSTMF('/QNTC/SCHROEDER/LIBRARY/rmaC/RMA.CSV')
MBROPT(*ADD ) STMFCODPAG(*PCASCII) RCDDLM(*CRLF)

Here are the first 3 rows in RMA.CSV
"Order Number ","Order Date ","Customer Number
","Customer Name ",
209513 ,"01/05/06",17647 ,"ABC Sample Company Inc.",
209594 ,"01/05/06",17640 ,"ACME Sales Company",
