Even without redundant power feeds having redundant PSUs does protect
you from a single power supply failing.

And for smaller systems you can do redundant power one on the cheap if
you must & your power draw isn't that great. Get a sub-$1000 UPS like
this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16842111058 )
and connect it to the wall or any separate circuit and use it for your
redundant power. Not truly 'commercial grade' but it is a cheap extra
line of defense without going to the effort of getting separate utility
feeds.

You could also go ahead and remove any non-server hardware from the UPS
altogether. The KVM/KVM switch, external tape/optical, etc. can get by
on a basic surge suppressor if needed, although you should maintain the
ability to do a controlled power down (remoting in from a laptop to the
HMC would suffice).
