Also, check the data file to see if the control character is in position
one.

If you want a programming solution perform try a copy spool file command
for
all the spool files into a data file specifying:
"Replace or add records . . . . . *ADD *REPLACE, *ADD
"Control character . . . . . . . *FCFC *NONE, *FCFC, *PRTCTL.

The *fcfc places all the print controls into position 1 of the data file.

Make the data file as wide as your widest spool file +1. 133 usually
works.

When all of the spool files are in the data file you will need to copy the
data file back to a spool file.

Do an ovrprtf to a printer file. I usually use qprint.

Specify:
Control character . . . . . . . *FCFC
Also override to the output queue you want.

Then CPYF from the data file to qprint...

I think that is all of the steps.

Gregory,

Actually we tried diligently to get that to work a couple of months ago but
were unsuccessful. We tried both *FCFC and *PRTCTL for CTLCHAR. What we
ended up with was all of the "data" from the reports but lost all of the
blank lines and the carriage control characters for top-of-page, etc. We
used a guide that IBM provided for us that is basically the same steps that
you outlined.

This is a v5r4 system. If you have any other ideas I would be happy to
pursue them if there is a chance we can accomplish this *without* purchasing

a 3rd party product.
