Thanx Vern,

I found out that the share was already there. And, I always get confused
on the spacing and syntax of Net Use. So, I right clicked on the IFS
share and clicked on MAP NETWORK DRIVE. Much, much too easy! :-)

This will only be on my computer, so I am not worried about anyone else
getting into it. None of the User's has Navigator installed on their
machine.

Thanx again,

Nick

Re: Mapping the IFS to a drive

Release does not really matter, Nick. You need a file share defined on the
400 - whatever name! Just like on any Windows box. Then do NET USE as you
say. Setting up the shares is most easily done in iSeries Navigator -
might be called Access Navigator. You need to have the "File systems"
feature installed.

Be careful here - it is often said not to make a share from the root of
the IFS - opens up the world. And you might put a dollar sign after the
share name - effectively hides it from casual viewer in Windows Explorer.

Hello everyone,

Hope you all had a nice New Year.

I would like to map a drive on my PC to the IFS, similiar to QDLS.

I know with QDLS, I have to use the "Net Use" command in DOS.

Is there something similar to map my IFS?

We are at V4R5, old!!

Thanx,

Nick
