I would read that last sentence to imply that partition 10 was a
_binary_ representation of 10, so I'd expect to see 0x0A in the field.

Everything I've done in that regard has been under that assumption. And as I recall, we even bought a hardcopy of a more recent MI manual than the one I normally use, and that's what I worked from.
