Perhaps any System i that will be controlled by an HMC could be built to
trip all the circuit breakers in the data center until it gets a signal from
the HMC that everything is fine, let's proceed. When the user calls IBM to
complain, IBM gets to ask the question "Is the HMC fully functional?" If the
caller says "No", IBM gets to hang up on him.

So, what do you think about submitting a DCR that IBM slaps a little
placard over the power plug holes on the iSeries that says something to
the effect of:
"NOTE! If you are controlling this system with an HMC do NOT plug this
machine in until you have finished setting up the HMC, and installed the
necessary network cabling from here to the HMC! See setup instructions
for further details."
