Is there some way to rationally figure out why I have a load of PTF's
that haven't been applied? I have spent the last hour or so trying to
figure out which of the PTF's in the last Cume have failed to apply. It
is like a set of dominos....if I can push the first one over, I think
all the rest will fall.
My first indication of a problem was after the IPL I looked at the log
and saw many PTF's that had "not applied" errors when they were
processed. WRKPTFGRP shows almost all groups "Not Installed". Working
the list of "not applied" messages, it is hard to tell which of the
dozen or so that aren't applied failed to apply. Some say that they
need a prerequisite PTF applied "Only when the system is started". Some
have to have some applied permanently and some of those, when you try to
apply them permanently say they have been superseded. I can't figure
out which one is causing the heartburn.
Is there a way to systematically follow the chain of requirements so I
can figure out just which PTF is the problem or do I just keep going at
this in a trial and error manner?
