Are you trying to resell them afterwards? If not, then manual
destruction, as a backup method, can work pretty well.

You could ask your legal department if IBM's warranty indemnifies you in
case the data is recovered.

Caveat: Any suggestion of manual destruction does not imply any
responsibility on my part for any injuries or environment hazards,
including, but not limited to: your aim is bad and a stray hits anything,
or if it is discovered that burning disks in a large bonfire is a hazmat.
