Traditional approach was to use NOT EXISTS.

SELECT *
FROM table1 a
WHERE NOT EXISTS
(SELECT * FROM table2 b WHERE a.mykey = b.mykey)

There are other ways.

Subject: Re: SQL Exception join

Wrong Tommy,

Table1
mykey
A
B
C

Table2
mykey
B
C
D

A left outer join will return all. An exception join will only return A.
