Ah yes, alternative IPL source versus alternative installation device.
An alternative IPL source means you can IPL from it. This is pretty much
limited to a particular CD drive and some limited internal tape drives.
Since we normally have kick butt external tape drives it's been a few
years since I could use that.
I normally have to use CD to IPL and then configure my tape drive as an
alternate installation device.

There are some really nice checklists in there. Like recovering from a
complete system failure.
