First, I'm going to address the silliness of this. This has nothing to do
with an ERP application. You're talking about bookmarking.

I said deeplinking, not bookmarking. They are different in that one is for
a users later review (bookmarking) and one is so you can get directly to a
resource without traversing a menu system, log-on process, etc. Deeplinking
is great for integrating one application to another, or one portion of an
application to another. Thanks for bringing up bookmarking though, that's
another flaw for JSF. It can be overcome, but it still takes some
out-of-the-box programming for a VERY simply concept.

Here's a case where you found use for deeplinking (btw, your demos are
down):

http://demo.plutabrothers.com/PSC400Web/servlet/Psc400Servlet?PSC_EXITURL=ht
tp://www.plutabrothers.com/PBDWeb/pscdmotr.html#&PSC_CLIENTID=PSCDMOTR

Thanks for proving my point Part I.

Now, you won't like this solution because it doesn't fit some arbitrary
checkmark you read on the Internet, but the truth is, what percentage of
your pages do you need to be deeplinked?

The percentage of deeplinking would be much smaller than the total number of
links on the site for a POST driven framework (obviously). That doesn't
mean it shouldn't be a fundemental framework component given the nature of
what people expect (both users and programmers).

No, I'm not going to publish an app for you to test on! Gz, Aaron! Write
your own and let us know the problem!

Thanks for proving my point Part II.

Deeplink, not deeplink, you're insatiable. <grin> Me, I write this as a
separate non-JSF page.

Thanks for proving my point Part III.

<joe>
So far, you've given a couple of very specific technical capabilities that
may or may not require work-arounds. And while I don't disagree that there
are going to be weaknesses in any framework, I've yet to see anything close
to a showstopper.
</joe>

I never said they were show stoppers. Just saying that EGL isn't going to
address those things for you out of the box. You WILL be coding Java.

Maybe I am the only one out there that does web programming this way. Can
anybody else speak to whether I am completely off base or not? Joe doesn't
think deeplinks are important, I disagree.
