I did some research on how to do this 6 months ago, but never got back to actually restoring the fonts. Look at chapter 4 (Fonts) of the IBM Redbook Printing V. http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/pdfs/sg242160.pdf
I wrote some instructions after talking to an ex IBMer who worked on the Font Collection, but can't find the notes right now.
Let us know if you are successful - I still have to complete this for a site.
