Thanks for the recant - finally!

Wait, wait, wait. A couple of things. First, what statement exactly does
this recant? I only remember saying that you can write entire applications
without any Java code. I've never said anything about JavaScript. But
maybe you read something I didn't mean, so if you can find the exact
statement you're upset about, maybe I did indeed mis-speak and there's
something I need to recant. But right now, I've been pretty clear that EGL
allows you to create entire web applications without any Java code and with
a WYSIWYG editor for the UI.

You may want to add some JavaScript for things like mashups and so on, but
you'd have to do that in any UI design. If that's your complaint - that it
doesn't do EVERY POSSIBLE UI ARTIFACT without some UI work, then you're just
being silly.

But I will say this: you will do less JavaScript and HTML and even CSS with
EGL than with any other approach. And FAR less than any CGI technique,
especially RPG-CGI. Is that fair enough?

Everything you were saying before about EGL sure did make it sound like a
silver colored bullet. EGL just came out with AJAX functionality (per
your
statement I believe) - one would assume you _wouldn't_ be coding your own
Javascript but you are saying you do? - which is it?

I may not have been clear: the Ajax plumbing is all done via EGL. I added
six lines of code, and that was just to add a feature that wasn't yet
available (clickable tables which return the row clicked), and as it turns
out, the clickable table may have been doable as well, I just didn't
understand one feature. If you remember the article, I said I was doing
this all without touching a manual or reference document.
