run this periodically (assuming they have not altered the User Data parm on the spooled files)

Subject: Lansa AS2 and Spooled Files

Hello,

We've recently installed Lansa's Data Secure Direct (their AS2 product)
and it is generating a large quantity of spooled files.

From the look of things, the software runs DSPLNK OUTPUT(*PRINT) three
times every 10 minutes, and then just leaves these in the spool. That's
more than 400 spooled files every day, just sitting in the spool.

As far as I can tell, these spooled files are for the internal work of
their programs (apparently they don't know that there are ways to read
the contents of an IFS directory without using DSPLNK to a print file,
and then reading the print file -- but that's not my problem, I don't
have to maintain their software.)

But now these spooled files just proliferate on my system. They just
build up and build up. They cause major problems for my users, because
they can't find their documents in the output queues. Worse, until I
changed some of the JOBDs, these spooled files were actually PRINTING on
the printers, wasting paper, and confusing people who shared the same
printer.

Someone on my staff reported the problem to Lansa, and they said they
"can't change their core product". and aren't going to do anything
about the problem.

HOW THE HECK IS THIS ACCEPTABLE?

IS anyone else using this software package? If so, how did you solve
this problem? Or do you just let your spooled files build up? (After
all, disk space is cheap, right?)
