Our Novell user name which syncs to our Windows user name which syncs to our Exchange user name IS NOT the same as iSeries name so I do need to work around it.

Sounds like your first problem is:
That the user that logs on to the PC must be using the same name and
password as they would use to connect to the iSeries. And, they should
have an active connection. I do this by mapping a drive to some directory
and having it reconnect at log on.

Your second problem is a little different. I duplicated it by taking my
*.dtf and using Notepad on it. I changed the line
PCFile=deleteme.xls
to just
PCFile=
and I got
CWBTF0034 - A PC file name must be specified when downloading to a file.
If I put that back in then
rtopcb deleteme.dtf
works fine.
Your second parameter is meaningless. Instead of putting it on the RTOPCB
line, put it in the .DTF on the PCFile line.
