I don't know all the parameters for unix, but in Windows you can send a file to an outq using the lpr command - lpd has to be running on the iSeries, and there are issues with ascii vs. ebcdic to be handled somehow - looks like it can be done on a device description, not sure. And how unix specifies a server as the destination, don't know that. Here is the windows version I executed to put a file on outq PRTVH54

lpr -S xxx.x.x.xx -P PRTVH54 SVKSettings.txt

where -S names the ip address where the print should go and -P names the outq - if it is not in the library list, that should probably be in full quotes and qualified.

Your unix person should know how to set up a device or some such - but there is still the ebcdic - ascii conversion issue.

I had a question today from a client who wants to direct output from a
Unix box to an output queue configured on their System i (V5R3). I'm
thinking that remote output queues might somehow provide what they are
looking for, but I'm fuzzy on how the Unix box would 'see' this queue.
I looked in the archives and could not find anything specific to this.
Any ideas?
