You know - sometimes you just have to take the time to submit a question and then things start working.
I am now able to see servers after doing a MKDIR. I'm not sure why it didn't work before, but anyway it is working now.

We had many, many problems when we went to V5R4. It is because QDLS is not and cannot be multi-threaded. When you start a job that uses any of the other files systems, a prestart job QZLSFILET is started in QSERVER. This is the threaded job. I believe ... If you have this job running with your profile in it and then try to connect to QDLS it will not work. The QDLS job must be started first and must be QZLSFILE.

QZLSFILE MKERN4 PJ .0 DEQW <<--- this is me in QDLS
QZLSFILET QUSER PJ .0 TIMW <<--- this is other folks in other file systems

Are you trying to drill down or map a drive to it? Do you have an entry for the user in the directory (WRKDIRE). Has the user profile been disabled for Windows Network Neighborhood (a message would show up in QSYSOPR)?

Subject: QNTC not working

I have been trying to get QNTC working for the last couple of days- with no luck. I have read everything I can find, but I'm getting nowhere fast.

I have verified with my network people that the Domain name and WINS servers are set correctly on NETSERVER setup.
I have changed environment variables

I have the same profile/pwd on the servers and on the ISERIES.

I have performed a MKDIR pointing to one of the win servers- which works, however I still cannot see anything in the server.

I am on V5R4 and have verified that SMB messinging has been turned off on the WIN2003 servers also.

What else can I check?
Is there any logging anywhere to indicate the problem?- I cannot find any.

Ps, at somepoint in the past, I had this working(don't remember how long ago though)
