Sounds like you could use a solid change management system ... a system
that will keep track of, and allow you to restore, changes ... even if
they are months or years old.

I know that MKS Implementer can (yes, I do work for MKS, so I'm quite
biased), but I have to assume all the major SCM products for the System
i do also.
