You're worried about resources and the "half-life of information" but
you consider a complex custom protocol like Lukas's better than
something you can pick up a book about at Barnes & Noble?

No offense to Lukas, I'm sure his solution works fine, but you're never
going to find someone that knows it already, so I find it hard to call
it "better" in the context of complexity, and resources.
