Thanks again Jeff. Our Ops Console is back. Same fix as yours. Called IBM and learned about areas of STRSST that I will now purge from memory.
To anyone else out there with a direct connect console who is planning on install WebQuery, WATCH OUT.

Hi Mike! Guess who again! (BTW, I can get into WebQuery now, but I've
gotten so many phone calls and emails that I haven't really done anything
yet.)
I had that exact issue Thursday night. I applied all the PTFs required for
WebQuery and IPLed from home via VPN. After 45 minutes the console wasn't
up and I was getting nervous. So I tried a plain old telnet and got right
in. Everything was fine -except- ops con would not work. Rebooted the work
PC and everything, no luck. Finally opened a sev 1 PMR from home. IBM took
me into the bowels of STRSST and did a reset on the console. About 5
minutes later (it really took awhile) it popped up.
I would not want to try to remember everything we did for fear of royally
screwing up your machine, but my PMR (now closed) was 06465 branch 500. You
could reference that if you call IBM.

Customer Rep: Jeffrey Crosby
Problem: Console not working after applying PTFs.
Action Taken: QAUTOCFG = 1
QCONSOlE = DSP01
QIPLTYPE = 0
I had him go into SST and use the OPSCONSOLE macro. We
did to "restart" commands and then his console came back.
He is using PC AnyWhere from home, so this saved him a
trip into work.
Action Plan: Removing System Down Flag and RQ OFFFUP and OK to close at
EOS if no callback from the customer by then.

Subject: V5R4 patches and direct connect Ops Console
Has anyone else recently install IBM V5R4 PFTs and had a
direct connect Ops Console (COM port to iSeries) stop
working? We installed some group fix packs (the ones
required for the new WebQuery) on Sunday and the console that
was working on Friday is not working today.
