Our LUG had a presentation on Web Query this past Tuesday and from what I
saw -- compared to our present BI solution -- I came away thinking only
"Power Users" need to be given named accounts. Active Reports ($800 system
license) and PDF reports can be detached from the data so a named account is
not necessary to simply consume that information. For me, the missing piece
of the puzzle at this point is how much Information Builder's Report Caster
costs. That program lets you schedule generating and distributing the
detached reports. Additionally, according to Gene in Rochester, without
Report Caster you can only schedule reports to a spool file.

I agree with Rob. Right now the pricing model for this product is out of
whack. On our 520 we'll only get 2 user licenses, so we will get the
product and look it over, but I'm not going to roll it out to my users
unless there is a change in the user licensing.

The 10 person limitation without the SPENDMONEY command won't even cover

our systems department. And that's on a 570 with TB's of disk space,
multiple lpars, etc. QU1 didn't have a per user pricing.

Waiting to hear how this goes.
To several customers, this is the best news from Rochester in a while.
Any word on pgmr and end user training?

CD's showed up late yesterday afternoon, haven't had a chance
to even look at yet, downloading Redbook (slowly) now for
Install instructions (no documentation with the order just
the 2 CD's for 5733QU2) Hoping the OLAP, Active Reports and
Developer Workbench on them too.

Anybody tried an install yet?
