As to being a Luddite, it is true that my second most expensive possession is a First Model Long Land Tower musket (known in the vernacular as a "Brown Bess"). And I do know how to shoot it. But that is a remarkably sophisticated piece of machinery, at least for 1742.

The basic tenet still holds. You can copy the member elsewhere and operate on it with another tool (PC editors are plentiful; DFU works in a pinch) and copy it back. If you have access to a second system, DDM files can be a useful connexion.

WDSCi is Windows-only, and if you have WDSC, you probably paid for SEU as well.

Is this CL you're editing? Copy member to a work file, subfile over that, QCAPCMD to validate CL, copy work file back to member.
