While that would work, it's not nearly as efficient as the CLRPFM would
be.
Not true, since release V5R3 a CLRPFM will be performed (if possible) with
the SQL Delete without WHERE-Conditions.

Also, while not an issue with Jeff, since he's using DDL to define his
files, is that DDS does NOT specify Reuse Deleted Records by default. DDL
files will reuse deleted records, keeping the work file from growing....

But both default values can be changed by performing a CHGPF.

Have you tried using SQL? Simple as "DELETE FROM lib/file".
