well we can't just pick on the user community so here goes....

Co-worker with 8+ yrs of programming:
"don't worry i inserted the code just before the exercise subroutine
EXSR."

Co-worker: "you have to put 7 blank records in that file or it will error
out"
Me: "Why???"
Co-worker: "how else are you supposed to be able to add records to a
file!"
Me: "Ever heard of the WRITE opcode?"

Co-worker: "i backed up the data into a holding tank"
Me: "you mean a temporary file?"
Co-worker: "no it's a holding tank" [blank stare]

Co-worker: "they want me to create a report program, how do you create an
internally described printer file?"
Me: [indepth explanation of internally described printer file]
Co-worker: "how does it compile? i can't find the QSYSPRT file anywhere"
Me: "do a WRKOBJ *ALL/QSYSPRT"
Co-worker: "Ok" [does command]
Co-worker: "hey i just did a DSPFFD on that QSYSPRT it doesn't have any
fields. how will it know where to put my output fields??"
Me: [take 5-10 Excedrin Migrane and head for the hills]

Thanks,
Tommy Holden

Well, it IS Friday. I just wrapped up a long winded project for a client
in
Florida, and I think Beer:30 is approaching rapidly.

Will the rain here ever let up? I'm growing webs between my toes from the
trip between my house and my office building.

Is that the same person that we had when told to call Building Maintenance
because a light bulb in the computer room was burned out asked "How will
they know which one is burned out?"
