Our two LPARS did an abnormal shutdown at 8:05 this morning after a sub second
power failure because it detected weak batteries in the UPS. The UPS is a
POWERWARE 5125 that has performed flawlessly in the past and has given no
indications of weak batteries (it's not sounding an alarm or flashing the low
battery indicator).

Here are the messages from this morning:

Message . . . . : Weak battery condition exists.
Cause . . . . . : The external uninterruptible power supply (UPS) indicates
a weak battery condition. If utility power fails during this condition, the
system may begin an immediate shutdown. See the Backup and Recovery book,

Has anyone run into anything similar? Any advice on making sure this doesn't
happen again?

For what it's worth, this was the first abnormal shutdown we had on our
AS/400/System i units in the seven years I've been maintaining them.

Thanks in advance.
