There is a bill in the US Senate (Specter-Leahy) that would emulate
SB1386 for all states. At last count (after the close of the last state
legislative seasons), 37 states plus Puerto Rico and the District of
Columbia have a California privacy-like act on the books.

A national standard would be most welcome.
