Are you saying that you did not get to the QSYSOPR message queue?

You did get to the QSYSOPR message queue, and answered the message, yet
the job is still not processing? - if so, then your interactive job
won't resume until you leave the SYSREQ menu, and back to your job.
Are you on a dumb terminal?

we are in the process of FSS and backup stopped in process due to the
message wait.
Message on screen says "Waiting for reply to message on message queue
QSYSOPR"
I just tried the shift + Esc to reply the job and resume the backup but
still the screen is loced,its not allowing me to type any command.
I tried all the keys on the key board to unlock the screen but noting is
workin....
is there any way to unlock the screen and resume the backup? Any idea??
