Shannon:

I am going to make this a point of emphasis when we move to our new i520
this month (Lord willing). All PTFs should be current, I can strong-arm
the BP to make sure that includes WDSC, and the development staff are
resigned to this kind of upgrade disrupting their work. It might make a
difference. I like PDM/SEU, but my first look at WDSC was an eye-opener.
Only performance chased me away, and I left reluctantly. I suspect it's
mostly the same for the rest of the I.T. Dept.

I used to have the same problems Darrell when I had WDSC on an older PC.

But since I've gone to 6.0.1, with ALL 28 hours worth of downloads of
the
latest PTFs for it (I'm not exaggerating. It took me 28 hours over DSL
to
get all those PTFs for this for my PC), it runs pretty fast.

This is on both my desktop with 2 gig of memory and on my laptop with 1
gig.

I think if you upgrade the PTFs and if you upgrade your RAM, you will
see a
noticeable difference.
