I subscribe to midrange-l in "digest mode" so periodically it sends me a
single email that includes about a dozen messages. At the top, there is
a little index that shows me the topic and author of every message in
the digest. That makes it easy to skip the "repetitive" stuff and just
read the messages that might have some technical content of interest.

I used to use the digest mode for Midrange-L and RPG400-L, and
individual messages for Midrange-Nontech and pctech, but a few months
ago I switched to newsgroup access for all of them.

This makes it much easier to kill particular subject or authors
(because of the better capabilities in that area of my newsgroup
client software versus my email client software). It also allows
thread kills, but since threading is problematical that's not as
useful as I would like it to be.
