Assunto: Re: I5 smtp and spamcop
here, butChris: I'm picking my way through unfamiliar terminology
gateway. If Iwe're a very small shop and don't have a separate mail
anythingunderstand our config correctly, our i5 smtp server grabs
user withthat the router sends to that particular IP address. The email is
immediately accepted or rejected depending on whether there is an
SDD entry.
Is this true? It will definitely reject mail address to a
no SDD entry -- and it'll do it immediately (not by sending back a
message)? Did you test that?
I didn't think the SMTP server knew anything about SDD entries.
I haven't authority to set one up and test it here, but it
should be pretty easy for John to send an email to his server
from say Yahoo.
Make sure it's an invalid address like
fred.bloggs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Then he can see what comes back
from his iSeries and see if he's getting a 'no person at this
email' bounce message back.
