Some "clever" programmer decided to use a numeric field to store
character
data. The coversion is handled just fine by the application program,
but I
would like to be able to view the character data using SQL. How would
I do
this?

Could you provide an example of what was done?

You might have to create a UDF(User Defined Function) to handle this. If
you try to convert to a Char it is going to crash. Somebody else might
have an idea how to do this without a UDF.
