Vern, My apologies, maybe I wasn't very clear in my comment. You are right in stating that there are ways (if needed) to use logical expressions. it is only that with the MS Query wizard you can use simple (non-tech) things like "IS EQUAL TO...", "BEGINS WITH...", etc. in contrast as using a SQL sentence like " A > 5 AND B LIKE 'ZZ%' ", which I have to admit it is not very user friendly. It gives you fields lists and operators and all that - very nice - as I recall, MS Query has something like it - you still need some idea of logical expressions, or am I too long not using MS Query? Vernon, I think you could be right. If you don't have the CA license this must be extra cost. In the sites I've worked we have always had CA, so (for me) this is included. A good point for MS Query is that it could be easier for non-tech personnel to use (no need to know SQL in order to select some specific data (e.g. WHERE)). From the Access packaging page, the line about iSeries Access for Windows: Must have 5722-XW1 to use PC5250 and Data Transfer and in the line about 5722-XW1 User Based or Processor Based Purchase So if you have the emulator you also have Data Transfer. It just came with the Client Access CD, along the ODBC client. Nice thing about MS Query is, it does not cost extra.
