A little OT, but...
the Vista downgrading of tape illustrates to me the thinking of the OS industry. With virtual tape there is little reason to have a tape drive on the i5. ( not sure what it takes to do a full system restore from virtual tape )
In XP, the Windows backup utility allowed you to back up to any destination, such as USB keys. The Vista backup does not allow backups to USB keys. External HDDs, writeable CD and DVD are OK. With 1GB+ USB keys, backing up most simple data was easy, now harder.
my guess is MSFT wants all the backup devices to provide the full suite of restore features. In windows explorer under Vista you can right click on a file and see all the backup versions of the file. A ROM key chain drive likely does not store the support info needed for this. -Steve
