I intend to reset to FSP to factory defaults. Its going to take awhile. Since the HMC is gone I can't get to ASMI. It wasn't setup to be reached via browser before we started. Trying to get approval now to attach my PC to setup ASM. I find it rather amusing that all the documentation on how to remove the HMC did not discuss this at all. Its going to be a long process. You might be better off, when you are in the ASMI interface to reset the FSP to factory defaults. Justins advise will solve how firmware updates are applied to the FSP. Thanks. Will do. Sharon -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Haase, Justin C. Probably couldn't hurt to remove the HMC-managedness of the entire CEC, but that's pretty heavy-duty stuff. You may want to call IBM on this one - it's not an easy task making a machine not HMC-managed in its entirety. It's easy to make the FSP updates managed by the OS, but to get the HMC=0 off the display will take some more work. Justin C. That was a complete failure since the box is capped (a different problem). So I removed the HMC and put the Ops Console back in and everything seemed great until.... I put on PTFs and some of them are the firmware updates. The system still thinks it is HMC managed even though it isn't. SST shows console as Ops Console. Any ideas what to do next before I call IBM?
