        I am looking for report writing software for a system i 520
v5r3.

        Here is a list of requirements and desired features

        Requirements:
        1.  Able to report directly from database, not a spool file
scraper.
        2.  API for integrating into existing programs using parametric
queries (java and/or rpg)
        3.  GUI report design

        Desired Features:
        1.  Output to different formats including excel, pdf, and spool
file
        2.  Ability to run the client and ideally the server software on
multiple platforms 
        3.  I know I'm forgetting something so I reserve the right to
arbitrarily shoot down great recomendations

        Hopefully I'm posting this in the right place.  I thought of
posting it on the general midrange list, but I am hoping for technical
responses.  I've started doing some research, but vendor websites are
all thick with marketing speak.  I'm looking for real world experience
from real world users.  Any of you from the real world?
