I apologise if I sounded flip. Being a system i bigot, it is hard for me to accept the idea that others do anything better/faster.

Well, I am not technical enough to reverse engineer the NetServer code to see if the code is less efficient than Windows. Perhaps it was the onboard processor of using a Windows IXS card to handle just file serving. Would that be like having a dedicated IOP just for NetServer? Bus thingy? I don't think so. I've heard that iSCSI can even be a better performer than IXS for this kind of file serving.
