I would just like to add that they're much faster. Justin C. Whine Whine! There ain't nothun better in the PTF space than Image Catalogs! Nuthin! I just use an FTP script on Frankie that pulls down the PTFs into the IFS. Seriously the best thing since the beginning of i-time. Nearly every time I talk to people who are still using CDs and DVDs it's the same old 'We've always done it that way.' (Gosh it hurts just to type that!) Bandwidth is cheap. Get some. Download them at home if you have to. Use your neighbors DSL, your fathers Cable-Modem, or the company OC-12! Seriously get some bandwidth. Forget the plastic. Get image catalogs one way or another. They are faster, less errors, faster, easier, faster, more portable, and faster. You can do PTFs remotely, even entire OS upgrades and never touch the box. And did I mention they were faster? - Larry -----midrange-l-bounces+lbolhuis=arbsol.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx wrote: ----- To: <MIDRANGE-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx> From: "Jim Franz" <franz400@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent by: midrange-l-bounces+lbolhuis=arbsol.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx Date: 01/25/2007 12:20PM Subject: no more cume dvd via sndptford? Trying to use sndptford to get current v5r4 cume to apply a few weeks from now. Cannot take network traffic of a 800mb download. It appears with sndptford I can no longer get dvd. http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas1449c3aa4c91b318d8625726 7006e473d&rs=110 I have 4 diff customers to do in Feb. IBM probably saves a bundle doing this. My job just got exponentially harder. Have not used fix central after others had a multitude of problems, plus it doesn't seem to like one pc and many systems not related to each other. Wondering how others who support multiple customers, multiple machines are doing this? Right now seems I will be scheduling/monitoring 4 diff downloads at 2am (2 custs are 24x7). Since each download is only the ptfs needed, a download to one system may not have everything another system needs? Jim Franz
