Hi, Trevor:

I did not say "naming the server" ... I said, "refer to the platform". Big difference.

Just like how most people do not say that they are running an HP Pavilion or Compaq DeskPro, they say they are running "Windows XP" or "Windows 2000" or just a "Windows PC."

Now do you "get it"?

Cheers,

Mark

Mark,

You have confused me.
How can naming a server the same as the OS ~reduce~ any confusion?

The name of the operating system has been "OS/400" from 1989 until 2003 (V1R1 through V5R2). With V5R3, the name was changed to "i5/OS" and even V5R3 internally still says "OS/400" ... (this was "fixed" in V5R4).

Why not simply refer to the "platform" as "i5/OS" or "OS/400" ... and all of this "naming" confusion goes away...?

That's my opinion,
