So, is your question: If I have a session, that somehow got assigned to
the controlling subsystem via either TFRCTL or a workstation entry to the
controlling subsystem, will that session die when I perform an ENDSBS *ALL
*IMMED to get to restricted state?
With additional consideration being that the session is connected
remotely, directly into the iSeries, via telnet.
Then the answer is yes, that session will die. It is because telnet will
die due to the ENDSBS performing an ENDTCP under the covers.

Ideally, you would be running a HMC. Then you could use an iSeries Access
session to go to the HMC, not the iSeries. And you could share the
console. I have performed RCLSTG's, etc, from home after running ENDSBS
*ALL *IMMED using this method with no problem.

The new brick console buys you nothing. Forget that idea.

An alternative is to use a PC as your console either via Ops Console, or
by sticking a 5250 card into it and using a simple emulation program (NOT
ISERIES ACCESS). Then you could take control of this PC by using PC
Anywhere, or some such solution, from home. I've never done this but
there are those on this list who have done so.
