When I run this interactively, it runs fine.I created the source file
and
enter these commands into it then do a RUNSQLSTM using the source file x
in
lib y using member z, it errors out

RUNSQLSTM is your friend.
Separate multiple SQL statements (i.e. UPDATE,CREATE,DELETE,INSERT) in a
source member with semicolons (;).

Excuse the idiocy in this question. We don't do a whole lot of SQL,

very small updates that I do interactively but I have a large update to
