It doesn't matter what the PTF process does to update these directories. What matters is that you give the ptf process the appropriate authority. This isn't an AS/400. This is an iSeries. There are numerous items used in the IFS by the operating system. Frank, This may sound short and I am sorry if it does. I could try to help you understand what the process is but I don't see how that would help you. For instance, if I was to tell you that IBM stores a list of all new objects restored with a ptf. Then it creates a ptf save file for example QSI12345S1. Then it stores the OLD objects before it restores them into this save file. Then it restores the new objects from a different save file, for example, QSI12345. Now, knowing this information, how would that help you solve the potential problem you are having? Sure would be nice if IBM would put on the Fixes part of Infocenter that whomever is doing the ptf's should have the following special authorities... Rob Berendt
